Second brother, S.M.Chakravarty, is an Engineering graduate from Poona Engineering College, and  IRSE qualified. Worked for Indian Railways, and on deputation to Govt.of India in Industries Department  Was closely associated with present Hon.Defence Minister  George Farnanes(at that time Minister for Industries). Got specialised in Structural Construction of Bridges in Italy: then took voluntary retirement. Worked as Secretary  General of All India Cement Manufacturers’ Association for few years and thereafter worked as a consulting engineer to many cement plants. Has attended various seminars in India and abroad on invitation. His sons and daughters are well settled in life and are distributed round the world.

The author, Seshadri M.Chakravarty is a Civil Engineer by profession. After successfully competing in the Indian Railway Service of Engineers examination, S.M.Chakravarty joined the Indian Railways in 1954 and rose to the position of chief Engineer in 1979.
During his service in the Railways, he has been associated with the design, planning and construction of a number of prestigious projects like Rail-cum-road bridge on Brahmaputra river in Assam, Hassan-Manglaore railway line and the Wheel & Axle Plant, Bangalore. He had the unique opportunity of planning and installing India's first ever Railway Museum in Delhi.
While on deputation to the Ministry of Industry, he headed the Ministry's Special Cell for productivity enhancement in the Cement Industry; he shouldered the responsibility of monitoring the public sector undertaking with a view to speeding up clearance of projects, acceleration installation of new capacities etc.
S.M.Chakravkarty has written a number of articles on cement industry which have been published in leading newspapers and magazines, like Economic Times, Business standard, Financial Express and Indian Concrete Journal.
He was deputed to various countries as a member of Goverment of India delegation; the countries include Italy, Japan, Philippines, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, U.K., France, Sweden, Denmark etc.
S.M.Chakravarty took over his present assignment - Secretary General, Cement Manufacturers Association - in 1986; this position enabled him to have greater insight into the Indian cement industry.
